Carrying Correction Well
Scripture
Proverbs 27:6
“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”
Reflection
Every leader eventually gathers two kinds of people: those who tell them what they want to hear, and those who tell them the truth. The first group is more comfortable; the second group is what keeps a leader alive. Correction stings precisely because it touches something real. The question is never whether we will be corrected — it is whether we will stay soft enough to receive it. A leader who cannot be told they are wrong has already stopped growing, no matter how gifted they are.
Leadership insight
Keep at least one person in your life who is not impressed by you and free to say so. Thank them before you defend yourself.
Prayer
Father, guard me from a heart that cannot be corrected. Send me faithful friends, and give me the humility to hear them without defending myself. Amen.
Today's step
Ask one trusted person: “What is one thing I do that makes me harder to work with?” Listen without explaining. Say thank you.
