Leaving Something Behind
Scripture
2 Timothy 2:2
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Reflection
Paul describes four generations in a single sentence: himself, Timothy, reliable people, and others. That is the shape of leadership that outlives the leader. It is possible to build something impressive that collapses the moment you step away — and that is not a legacy; that is a dependency. The real measure of your leadership is not what happens while you are present, but what continues when you are gone. Give away what you know. Train someone who could one day do it better than you.
Leadership insight
If your ministry cannot survive your absence, you have built a platform, not a legacy. Start pouring into one person this month.
Prayer
Lord, let what You have placed in me not stop with me. Show me who to invest in. Give me the humility to raise up people who will go further than I have gone. Amen.
Today's step
